Feels like forever that Ive been actively involved in the ceramics industry as a designer, consultant and design teacher, specialising in design application.
Ceramics and Craft kind of go together like paint n brush, either learning crafty skills through ceramics or the other way round. In my case that uncludes jewellery, torch glass work, doll making, silver art clay, mosaic, glass slumping and fusing and the list goes on.
I completed a metal smithing course at NMIT and a few short courses with a few local silver smiths and jewellers. Over theLast decade or so my interest turned toCreating jewellery pieces using 'silver art clay' and glass, but you need a kiln ro fire these. When there is no kiln availableCreating with fimo is a good alternative.
Originally I started as a potter although throwing was never my thing due to a shoulder injury. Therefore handbuilding and creating smaller ornamental pieces which I adapt to other clay pieces that have been cast or handbuilt. My students ranging from very young 'pre-school' to mature adult.
I began teaching visual arts initially in Australia before going abroad in 2009. My subjects include
* the elements/theory of the colour wheel
* the elements of design
* folk art ( traditional & comtempory works)
* mural work (public installation works)
