I am a native French speaker who moved to Australia only a few years ago, having grown up in a small town on the Atlantic coast of France. I tutored French throughout my 3-year long university degree and as a result, am highly experienced in providing high-quality assistance to my students. This assistance includes preparing for orals, guiding the improvement of grammatical knowledge and helping with writing essays though in a way that facilitates the student's independent learning.
My French step-mother has thirty years of experience tutoring French to Australian students and generously shared with me a huge amount of learning resources she used to provide to her students. This means that every lesson, students will walk away from the session with more knowledge than they would have had access to were they to just attend their usual classes.
I am bilingual in English and French, so my ability to explain a particular grammatical rule or exception to a student is in no way compromised.
Predominantly, I have lots of experience tutoring English for English as a Second Language Students. But I am also highly capable in helping native English speakers with English studies and Literature Studies. I obtained the highest mark possible in my Literature class at the conclusion of my year 12 IB exams and tutored students completing a similar curriculum during my time at university.
I tutored high school history students during my time at university. I helped them construct essay plans and improve their writing style. The writing style that is required of a student to perform well in a history essay is very unique. It balances clarity with the ability to cover a huge depth of information. I have a lot of experience helping students better understand how their writing style can approach the ideal that is expected of a historian.
I tutored Politics to high school students while completing my Bachelor's Degree in Political Science. My weighted average mark (WAM) for Political Science was 85%, meaning I have an acute understanding of Australian institutions, their processes and associated theories. I have a lot of experience writing about current affairs for various publications and am therefore very much able to pass on this knowledge to my students.
I studied philosophy as part of my undergraduate degree and obtained high distinctions across the board. I have experience teaching high school students about the basics of philosophical writing, how to construct a philosophical argument using premise and conclusion form, how to use logic to test the validity of an argument (provided it is very simple). In general, I am very knowledgeable about continental philosophy especially.
I have previously taught Spanish to high school students and university students up to the level of A2.
