I am a certified Acrobatics teacher with a certification in Acrobatics teaching and a Certificate IV in Musical Theatre. I have been doing acrobatics and gymnastics from a young age and I am extremely passionate when it comes to educating. I have assistant taught at the dance academy I attend as well as taking regular lessons to keep myself educated and fit.
My teaching method is making the students feel safe and comforted. Every class is a safe space where the students can be proud of themselves and their friends by uplifting each other. Each lesson begins with a warm-up to prevent injury and to warm the body, then a stretch and strengthening portion to keep the students strong and flexible as well as to challenge them. We then go into limbering to keep our backs strong and controlled. Tumbling comes next where students can learn and perform all different types of tricks based on their skill level. Tumbling can be anything between a forward roll to a front aerial. Once the lesson is almost finished, students will cool down their bodies to prevent soreness and injuries. During lessons, students will also be taught terminology and theory behind the movements to ensure full understanding and proper technique.
Jazz dance is a huge passion of mine. I have taught young children and teenagers but feel most comfortable with the littlies to help develop their coordination and movement skills. Classes will consist of a warm-up sequence, as well as a stretch and strengthening portion. We will then move onto technical work (turns, kicks, leaps, jumps), and then learn a repertoire piece to test how quickly the student can pick up and execute choreography. The class will cater to the students skill level and ability and can be altered if they find it either too easy or too difficult.
Drama is one of the most beneficial classes that a student can take. Being a drama student builds confidence, self esteem, empathy, and social skills. I have taught drama to many different age levels ranging from five to eighteen years of age. Drama lessons can often be confronting but I can ensure you that the lesson will be a safe space that is free of judgement and will be filled with encouragement and positivity.
